The Nova experience is simply too bad to document. Basically it is
a lesson factory which produces burnt out, bitter teachers and dissatisfied
students. In a short time, too! No pay rise for over eight years, no
consideration given to the students, teachers or Japanese staff: only the
god of money. If you join the union (yes, there is one but they keep it
pretty quiet!) your contract will not be renewed or you will be fired. No
one dares to join.
If you are foolhardy enough to ignore the dire warning, then take
this advice: volunteer nothing and strive to have your own life.
Nova controls all aspects of your life. You can never escape.
You will meet wonderful students but you are forbidden to
socialise with them.
Your Japanese will never be good.
You could be living with any kind of psycho, male or female.
You will pay extortionate rent.
You will have no national holidays and 10 days off a year (excluding New Year)
You will be forced to join their health insurance plan, which is
virtually unknown should you ever try to use it)
Your request for a specific location prior to departure will be ignored.
Your apartment will barely be furnished.
You will never have weekends off.
You are at the mercy of the Japanese staff.
If you have problems, no one will help you.
The teaching side is another story ( bad ) For more details contact

Believe it or not, I am still at Nova!! Seeing out my second
contract like a prisoner in a cell. Japan is a great place to be,
don't join Nova and ruin it!
